Fresno County Sheriff-Coroner-Public Administrator's Office
invites applications for the position of
Special Sheriff\'s Investigator (Extra-Help) . Successful candidates will be responsible for conducting confidential investigations into the background of prospective employees consistent with California Peace Officer Standards and Training requirements. Incumbents are not Peace Officers and will not make arrests or take law enforcement action; this is a civilian investigative position.

Responsibilities
Specify and document background information on prospective employees in alignment with applicable standards. Conduct confidential background investigations and compile findings for review by the department. (Note: This is a civilian investigative role; incumbents do not perform law enforcement actions.)
Qualifications
Experience : Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Deputy Sheriff or in a public correctional agency, with one (1) year involving conducting investigations.
OR Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience equivalent to that gained as a Correctional Officer in a public correctional agency, with one (1) year involving conducting investigations.
License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.
Other : Selected candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities and must undergo and pass a thorough background investigation and polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination. Investigations may include employment/credit histories, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. Other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

This group includes positions requiring light physical effort and may include lifting of small, light objects and some bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
