Personal Injury Attorney
Trust Guss Injury Lawyers, Houston, TX, United States
Overview
We’re looking for a Pre-Litigation Attorney who treats every case like it’s trial-bound from day one. This is a high-volume, fast-paced environment where ownership matters. You’ll be expected to proactively move cases forward, identify and solve problems before they escalate, and advocate aggressively for clients. The right person is naturally competitive and results-driven, comfortable pushing adjusters and opposing counsel, making judgment calls, and picking up the phone to get things done. This is not a role for someone who prefers a slow pace, minimal client interaction, or reactive case handling. We are not looking for a file maintainer; we’re looking for a case driver. If you get frustrated when cases sit idle and take pride in moving them efficiently toward strong resolutions, we want to talk.
Responsibilities
Support and negotiate an assigned docket of Personal Injury cases (i.e., motor vehicle collision, trucking accident, and premises liability)
Conduct case evaluation, pre-litigation management, review draft settlement demands, and strong pre-litigation negotiation
Demonstrate Plaintiff’s Personal Injury Pre-litigation negotiation experience, specific to MVA, trucking, and slip and fall type cases
Coordinate with the in-house Intake department to evaluate and sign up new clients, including in-person (home and hospital) signups. Note that this may require occasional travel as well as occasional calls or meetings with potential clients in the evenings and on weekends
Assist Case Managers and other Attorney staff with various matters as requested (i.e., coordinating medical treatment, case approval, round tabling of files, heavy client contact, etc.). This may include supporting other branch offices as well
Motion practice, file lawsuits, draft, and respond to written discovery, take depositions, prepare clients, and present them for depositions as needed
Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree (i.e., JD)
Texas State Bar licensed
Must be able to occasionally travel (mostly day trips, but occasionally multi-day)
Must have solid knowledge relative to local medical providers, clinics, diagnostic centers, etc
Team player with a positive and cooperative attitude
Current knowledge of Personal Injury Law causes of actions, liability issues, and damage elements
Must have excellent legal research and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Must be able to support neighboring county areas, which may result in occasional evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Skills (Big Plus Factors)
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Experience with Litify Case Management software
Licensed in additional States
Compensation
$80,000 - $100,000 yearly
