Overview
UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization. The Gastroenterology RN provides pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures. The RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. The RN assists the physician with endoscopy procedures; provides moderate sedation under the direction of the physician; and other duties as assigned. Floating is required.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
A minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care RN experience within GI procedures.
Must have two (2) years of recent pre, intra, post op GI procedures experience.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.
Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN.
Specialty certification.
Supported GI Procedures in a high volume Endoscopy suite.
Performed both clinical nursing care and technical assistance in Endoscopy procedures.
Managed scope handling equipment set-up and procedural assistance.
CGRN or SGNA certification.
Special Conditions
Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week. Must be available 1 weekend shift every 4 weeks and 1 major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs.
Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
Must be able to work on all GI locations at UCSD Health.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $190,342 - $190,342 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $91.16 - $91.16. Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs. The Hiring Pay Scale is the budgeted salary or hourly range UC San Diego Health reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
