Family Medicine Patient Services Specialist
Position Description: This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serving as the primary contact for patients. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before patient visits, receiving patients, maintaining records, processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash‑handling responsibilities.
Major/Essential Functions
Provide excellent customer service.
Schedule patient appointments using computer systems, following clinic guidelines and processes.
Patient check‑in and check‑out.
Ensure accurate and complete entry of patient information.
Collect patient co-payments in cash, credit card, checks, or money orders.
Provide expertise in insurance verification, using both online and phone systems.
Verify insurance benefit eligibility for services.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish
Required Qualifications
A high school diploma or GED.
One year of customer service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement.
Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
