Medical Assistant – Per Diem – Transplant
Under the direct supervision of the clinic manager and general supervision of clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant performs patient care duties in accordance with California business and professional code and Joint Commission (TJC) regulations. Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments and system screens; accurate billing; environmental care; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. The candidate must demonstrate initiative, prioritize demands, and work effectively in a team environment. Other related duties are assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months.

Minimum of two (2) years of recent (within the past year) Medical Assistant experience.

Back‑office Medical Assistant experience in a multi‑specialty clinic.

Experience caring for or knowledge of the needs of solid‑organ transplant patients.

Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

Strong customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a multi‑specialty/multi‑provider clinic.

Experience using Epic, Cadence, and Epic Phoenix.

Experience with UCSD systems, policies, and procedures.

Bilingual: English/Spanish.

Special Conditions

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $60,552 – $60,552 (prorated if appointment is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $29.00 – $29.00

Compensation is determined by experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs.
