General Description
Join our team as a Pump Station Mechanic I. The role involves assisting the Pump Station Lead Mechanic with the maintenance, fabrication, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment related to wastewater pump stations.

Essential Job Functions

Installs, overhauls, repairs, services, and maintains equipment including pumps, motors, gas and diesel engines, meters, gauges, compressors, blowers, valves, and backchecks.

Revamps pump stations and maintains 240/480 electrical system control panels.

Maintains well motors and A/C-D/C control systems.

Uses power tools, paints equipment as required, checks and adjusts equipment, and maintains service records.

Performs confined space entries following safe practices.

Submits requisitions for equipment and materials, reviews work orders for priority, clarity, and completeness, and distributes work orders (CMMS) to appropriate personnel.

Performs other related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of methods and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, and mechanical equipment.

Ability to make inspections to determine operating conditions and needed repairs of pumping equipment.

Ability to work from blueprints, pencil sketches, or written and oral instructions.

Proficiency with a variety of mechanic's tools and shop equipment.

Knowledge of 240/480 A/C-D/C control systems.

Reading comprehension skills.

Ability to interpret and utilize SCADA system.

Minimum Requirements

Physical: Can lift up to 80 pounds; can bend, climb, walk, stoop, and squat frequently.

Communication: Effectively uses verbal, written, and visual communication.

Availability: Must have a telephone and be available for overtime, mandatory on‑call rotation.

Education, Training and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent diploma and one (1) year of direct experience in Utility Operations.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations

Valid Florida driver’s license.

Florida CDL Class “B” temporary permit within 30 days of hire and permanent license within six months.

Florida FWPCOA “C” Wastewater Certificate within 18 months.

Confined Space Entry, Excavation & Trenching, First Aid & CPR, and F.E.M.A IS‑100 and IS‑700 certificates within 60 days.
