18 months of recent experience in an Acute Care PCU/Step-down setting
Other requirements to be determined by client facility
Duties & Responsibilities
Progressive Care Nurses care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment but who are not unstable enough for ICU care. Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac and other vital signs, detecting changes, and enabling timely interventions. Manage complex medication regimens that may require titration based on vital signs. The PCU nurse may also be referred to as a step-down nurse.
Monitor and assess patients not unstable enough for ICU care.
Utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and vital information to detect changes requiring intervention.
