Responsibilities
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
Perform stress test procedures.
Supervise and direct the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other patient care providers.
Set and evaluate priorities with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
Utilize the nursing process to integrate care and individualize the plan of care for patients.
Record appropriate documentation in patient medical records and ensure chart completion before filing.
Maintain safety, report hazardous conditions and medical errors.
Ensure availability of supplies and medications in procedure rooms and manage equipment readiness (e.g., crash carts, monitors, defibrillators).
Assessment and reassessment of patients before, during, and after diagnostic procedures; communicate findings with the clinical team.
Airway management and cardiovascular/respiratory arrest management as applicable to non-invasive procedures.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate from an NLN Accredited Nursing Program
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficient computer skills
Minimum one year of recent/current cath lab/cardiac non-invasive lab experience
Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
Venipuncture Certification
Dysrhythmia course certificate
Rhythm Interpretation: able to identify rhythm strips accurately
Preferred:
BSN
Certifications and Licenses Required:
BLS from the American Heart Association
ACLS Certification
Active NJ RN license or compact RN license with NJ endorsement
Scheduling Requirements
Per Diem
Monday-Friday 8a-2p; weekends 8a-1p
1 shift per week, 1 shift weekend per month
1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day)
1 winter holiday (New Year\'s Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day)
Essential Functions
Provide nursing care within professional standards and ANA code of ethics.
Perform non-invasive cardiac procedures and related duties.
Maintain knowledge of patient population served and safety protocols.
Supervise and delegate tasks appropriately within the care team.
Use evidence-based practice and communicate with resource persons as needed.
Other Duties
Document in patient medical records and maintain accurate daily procedure logs.
Ensure completion and accuracy of physician reports and chart reviews.
Manage supplies, equipment, and Pyxis medication returns; coordinate with management on replenishments.
Maintain emergency equipment and perform routine checks (crash cart, monitors, defibrillators).
Adhere to hospital and Nursing Department policies and procedures.
Assess patients before, during, and after procedures and communicate findings with the clinical team.
