We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support K–12 students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in collaborative environments and is passionate about making a meaningful impact across both general education and special education settings.
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher provides high-quality instructional and consultative services to students with individualized education plans (IEPs). This role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and includes instruction, consultation, and evaluation work, particularly within early childhood and autism-focused populations.
The ideal candidate has experience working with:
High- and low-functioning students
General education and SPED classrooms
Nonverbal students with severe, low-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Key Responsibilities
Deliver specialized instruction to K–12 special education students
Collaborate with general education teachers on inclusive practices
Participate in IEP development, planning, and implementation
Provide consultation, training, and instructional support
Conduct early childhood evaluations
Support students with varying levels of academic and behavioral needs
Maintain compliance with all professional, district, and regulatory standards
Assignment Details
Setting: School-Based
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Length: 9 months (school year)
Student Population: K–12
Focus Areas: Early childhood evaluations, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Gen-ed and SPED environments
Compensation
Pay Rate: $58 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
Valid state teaching certificate in accordance with state or district requirements
Minimum one (1) year of teaching experience preferred
Preferred certifications and endorsements:
Standard Elementary Teaching
Standard Secondary Teaching
Standard Special Teaching
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement
OR BCBA license or ability to obtain
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Early Childhood (EC) evaluation experience required
Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice
CPR certification (if applicable)
TB screening and current health certificate per contract or state regulations
Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
