Position Overview
With its broad and multidisciplinary faculty expertise, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) is an international resource that supports basic and clinical research in environmental health sciences and exposure assessment and fosters associated programs in environmental health education and public policy.

Established in 1986, EOHSI’s major objectives are to advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health, identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals, treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures, develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures, contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks, and offer training programs for environmental health professionals.

The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
The Psychology Intern will participate as part of the clinical service provision team for the World Trade Center (WTC) responders under the supervision of the Mental Health Director and to ensure quality of the program.

Responsibilities

Conduct clinical screens and certification interviews of WTC first responder patients under supervision.

Provide individual and group clinical services under supervision.

Perform psychological intakes, certification interviews, and case management services.

Administer comprehensive cognitive and neuropsychological assessments for the WTC patient cohort, evaluating cognitive functioning and mental health concerns.

Conduct Fitness‑for‑Duty (FFD) evaluations for external contractors to provide objective assessments of employees’ capacity.

Conduct regular check‑ins with new members to assess their needs, provide support and discuss the certification process.

Perform ongoing monitoring visits to maintain continuity of care.

Qualifications
Minimum: Must be in a PhD or PsyD doctoral program in clinical, counseling or combined clinical‑school psychology; having completed at least two years of supervised practicum and externship clinical experience; having conducted individual and group therapy for adults, having administered, scored, interpreted and written reports on at least two comprehensive psycho‑diagnostic assessments.

Must be currently enrolled in a doctoral psychology program in New Jersey or New York and have completed all doctoral coursework.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word / Excel).

Salary and Terms
Salary: $50,000 (base) with potential adjustments based on qualifications, experience, and grant availability.

Grade: 99S, FLSA: Exempt, Position Status: Full Time, Working Hours: 40 per week. Position is Temporary Staff Appointment – Salaried 12‑Month with on‑site work arrangement. Union: MPSC – Legacy UMD.
