Georgia-Pacific is looking for safety-oriented individuals to join our team as an Assistant Machine Operator in McDonough, GA.
Salary
$24.50 per hour
Shift differential is $1.00 per hour during 7 pm – 7 am
Compensation may increase based on skills and contribution to plant performance
Eligible for Performance Pay program, up to 6% quarterly bonus
Shift
Facility uses a Dupont schedule (rotating 12‑hour shifts): 6:45 am – 7 pm and 6:45 pm – 7 am
Only candidates able to work this schedule will be considered

Georgia‑Pacific's Mailers division is part of our Packaging and Cellulose business and is expanding its product lines.
What You Will Do
Operate the line with minimal supervision while maintaining facility standards in safety, productivity, waste, housekeeping, and quality
Operate the line when the lead operator is assisting other lines or performing other tasks
Perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments; operate in line systems with minimal supervision including manual duties such as hand‑packing
Set up make‑ready/changeover machine setups according to production schedules
Consistently seek improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards
Drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement and ownership
Scan all material related to the job ticket into Plex at time of use and ensure scrap is recorded correctly once material is consumed
Maintain and clean machines and work area as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
1+ year’s experience operating production machinery
Previous experience in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance
Ability to read a tape measure in both standard and metric units
Experience working rotating 12‑hour shifts with a 7‑day break in every 28‑day period
What Will Put You Ahead
2+ years as a paper setter, operator, tender, or printing process experience (offset, digital, web, corrugating, converting)
1+ years experience working in a maintenance department
Experience with make‑ready process to prepare equipment for a new job
Experience troubleshooting machine setup, adjusting machines, and solving key issues safely
Experience using a computer, tablet, or smart device
Other Considerations/Physical Requirements
Lifting up to 35 lbs, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, sitting, pushing and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day in a loud, high‑volume environment
