Georgia‑Pacific is looking for safety‑oriented individuals to join our team as a Quality Technician in McDonough, GA.
Salary
$24.00 per hour
Shift differential $1.00 per hour between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am
Additional compensation available based on skills and performance
Eligible for a Performance Pay program that could offer up to a 6% quarterly bonus
Shift
The facility operates a Dupont rotating 12‑hour schedule. You will work both shifts on a rotating basis: 6:45 am‑7:00 pm and 6:45 pm‑7:00 am. Days off are provided between night and day rotations.
Only candidates able to work this schedule will be considered.

Our Team
Quality Technicians help maintain constant quality during production by inspecting and measuring product samples and communicating data to the broader team. They enable quick responses to correct defects and/or process issues through effective communication with operations, R&D, and leadership. They also verify processes to aid continuous improvement, ensuring the customer receives high‑quality product. These positions offer growth potential within the facility and across Georgia‑Pacific.
Georgia‑Pacific’s Mailers division is expanding its product lines, creating and launching new products to complement our recyclable padded mailer business.
What You Will Do
Verify all materials meet specifications for each job based on envelope format and supervisor instructions.
Perform and maintain department quality per standard operating procedures.
Stay current on quality inspection procedures, specification limits, and sampling frequency.
Monitor packaging for defects outside of specification limits, correct and report non‑conformance to lead operator.
Print labels when needed and place materials on hold.
Check incoming raw materials before production and when run‑ability concerns arise.
Assist with hand packing when automation is down.
Maintain open dialogue with supervisors and colleagues to minimize delays.
Update upcoming shift information for accurate hand‑off.
Maintain a clean working environment.
Monitor all jobs for manufacturing defects and report non‑conformance.
Ensure facility employees comply with all standard operational procedures related to quality.
Perform internal audits to verify processes.
Carry out other duties or projects as assigned.
Act as the on‑shift representative for quality matters.
Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Complete all required training within specified time frames.
Use Teams and other computer‑based programs to communicate with the quality group.
Work overtime as necessary to cover absences or PTO.
Basic Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, warehouse, or military environment, or completion of post‑high‑school education in manufacturing/industrial.
Basic computer skills.
Effective written and verbal communication with team members, management, and other departments.
Availability for rotating 12‑hour shifts with a 7‑day break in every 28‑day period.
What Will Put You Ahead
1+ year experience operating production machinery.
Experience performing quality checks according to standard operating procedures.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Experience working in a converting operation.
Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques.
Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as ISO 9001.
Other Considerations / Physical Requirements
Adhere strictly to safety rules and regulations, including wearing required safety equipment.
Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve hours a day in a loud
oisy, high‑volume industrial environment.
