Job Summary
Enel North America is hiring a Wind Turbine Technician I on-site in Satanta, KS. The role involves inspecting, troubleshooting, installing components, and repairing wind turbines and internal/external components such as controllers. Technician I performs planned maintenance and supports technicians II and III in troubleshooting to return turbines to service.
Responsibilities
Complete scheduled maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment to maximize generation.
Install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot minor components and assist with some major components.
Perform current and voltage calculations as needed.
Initiate reports and records associated with maintenance and repairs.
Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA's, and job-specific documentation required for safe maintenance and repairs.
Qualifications
Strong attention to detail.
Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as DMM, megger, and multiprocess calibration equipment.
Knowledge of electrical theory and troubleshooting techniques.
Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment, including voltage testers, amp clamps, hydraulic torque equipment, alignment tools, hand and power tools, and heavy equipment (crane and rigging) for facility maintenance.
Competency in working with low- and medium-voltage equipment.
Availability to travel up to 25% of the time to other operational sites within the U.S. as needed.
Availability to respond to site emergencies 24/7, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary.
Ability to work in hot/cold ambient weather conditions.
Ability to climb turbine towers exceeding 100 m approximately 5‑15 times per week or as needed.
Comfortable working at heights of 300 ft or more in confined spaces, working on scissor lifts, lifting 50 lbs daily, and wearing PPE such as arc‑flash suits, facemasks, and high‑voltage gloves.
Exposed to energized electrical equipment and rotating equipment.
Pass a physical fitness exam and maintain a weight ≤ 280 lbs to meet safety restrictions.
Operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Driver’s record: No suspensions, revocations, or cancellations in the last 3 years; no disqualifying offenses; no more than two moving violations; no reckless driving incidents. No major offenses in the last 5 years, including DUI/DWI or fatal accidents.
Education & Experience
High school completion and 1+ year related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
