The Quality Control Technician will follow through on set processes and ensure adherence to best production practices and product quality standards. This position will be responsible for maintaining quality-assurance processes, testing products, and recording and analyzing results during product development and manufacturing. This position will support both the Bessemer and Alabaster DeSHAZO facilities.
Responsibilities
Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
Submittal and follow up of Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's).
Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Requirements
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years experience working within an Industrial Manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience with metallurgical materials is required. (This is not a quality lab position)
Visual acuity of 20/30 or better in one eye, natural or corrected
Ability to read and understand machining and fabrication blueprints
Ability to read and understand job specifications.
Desired candidate will have experience with Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's) or applicable knowledge.
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME B30, AWS, SSPC, NEC)
Ability to work systematically and logically.
Ability to follow through and complete assignments with minimal supervision
Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
Good oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Tasks associated with this position are performed at multiple locations in non-controlled environments subject to heat, cold, dust, dirt, and loud noise.
Hard hat, safety-toe shoes, hearing protection, and eye protection is required.
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time on concrete floors, climbing, bending, and kneeling, and occasional lifting of heavy objects.
Many tasks are repetitive with few breaks.
