Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
Under general supervision, repair and maintain machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in an industrial establishment. Perform related work as required.
Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and measuring and testing instruments.
Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.
Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment, and install new or repaired parts following specifications and blueprints using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery using rags, brushes, and grease guns.
Install and repair components of machinery and equipment. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
Repair and maintain physical structure specifications.
Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment, such as programmable controllers.
Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.
Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wood structures.
Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automated-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines such as pumps, draft fans, stokers, and burners.
Install and repair refrigerating systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications using knowledge of refrigeration, structural layout, function, and design of components.
