Travel Nurse RN, Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Asheville, NC 28801.
Duration: 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM). Immediate start.
Assignment Details
Location: Asheville, NC 28801
Setting: Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) – 40‑bed cardiac surgery step‑down unit
Shift: 12‑hour nights
Hours per week: 36
Estimated weekly pay: $1,800 – $1,890
Weekend requirement: At least 6 weekend shifts per six‑week schedule
Potential floating to other step‑down or med‑surg units
Qualifications
Current, active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state
Minimum 1 year recent step‑down, PCU, or telemetry RN experience
Telemetry experience required
Current ACLS and BLS certifications
Experience with cardiovascular or vascular surgery populations preferred
Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
Team‑oriented, flexible, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced PCU environment
Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality nursing care to patients recovering from cardiovascular and vascular surgeries.
Monitor and interpret telemetry and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
Manage chest tubes, epidurals, tube feedings, IV infusions, vasoactive drips, and cardiac medications.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Document care and interventions accurately in Cerner EMR.
Float to other units as needed while maintaining safe patient ratios.
Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and dress code.
