Overview
R&D Lab Technician at Lubrizol in Brecksville, OH. Responsibilities
Deliver accurate and timely laboratory results while ensuring safe working conditions.
Conduct experiments according to defined operating procedures, including operation of Henschel mixers, 2-roll mill, pipe extrusion, pipe fitting injection molding, and compression molding machines.
Continuously improve work practices and procedures to enhance safety, efficiency, and quality of testing.
Recognize validity of test data, evaluate data to ensure accuracy prior to communicating results, and notify manager regarding non-conformances.
Document test data in Excel and Lubrizol’s internal software systems.
Articulate and communicate lab results to scientists, managers, and business partners with timely status updates.
Assemble, prepare, and maintain extrusion, injection molding, and other test equipment.
Perform routine preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on equipment as defined in SOPs.
Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success
High school diploma or GED required.
At least one year of experience in an R&D lab, manufacturing, or similar industrial/academic setting.
Working knowledge of plastics extrusion and/or injection molding required.
Strong observational and recordkeeping skills.
Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate results and identify root causes.
Working knowledge of core mathematical/statistical concepts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications That Drive You Forward
Degree or professional certification in polymer science/processing or another science-related field.
Experience in plastic or rubber manufacturing and/or testing.
Forklift driving experience.
Lock Out Tag Out experience.
Emergency Response experience.
Familiarity with Lubrizol’s internal research applications (e.g., ChemTestInfo, Results Uploader, gLIMS, REx, Information Warehouse).
Knowledge of Lubrizol products, intermediates, and raw materials.
