Pay range:
$21.85–$32.80 per hour
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent; 3 years office or clerical experience or equivalent.
Essential Functions
Schedules and coordinates surgical cases with corresponding ancillary tests and arrangements, recognizing differences between procedure types and patient needs.
Recommends surgery times and dates to physicians to ensure adequate space and time for completion based on procedural knowledge.
Ensures each surgical case is scheduled in the appropriate area based on facility availability and established guidelines.
Prepares necessary patient reports for physicians and the department, informed by procedural knowledge.
Maintains knowledge of all scheduling computer programs (e.g., Cycare, Clinipac, McCormick-Dodge OR Scheduler).
Reviews physician schedules to best utilize operating rooms and makes recommendations to surgeons.
Processes and reviews incoming and outgoing surgery-related documents and forms.
Provides patient guidance on logistics, insurance submission, preliminary financial arrangements, and pre-certification with insurance companies.
Acts as a resource regarding all logistical aspects of the surgical process.
Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Under general supervision, exercises independent judgment in coordinating surgery scheduling and determining ancillary procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, staff, and departments.
Strong organizational ability.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Work Environment
Clean, well‑lit and comfortable office setting; moderate noise; subject to pressures or deadlines.
