We are seeking a Medical Assistant Surgery Scheduler to coordinate patient visits, procedures, and related administration in an ambulatory health care setting.

Responsibilities

Assist the provider with patient visit and procedures, routine laboratory tests, referrals, and quality outcomes.

Actively participate in Network quality initiatives regarding best practices.

Arrange pre‑op testing for patients.

Prioritize the physicians’ schedule around their surgeries.

Assist other office areas as needed.

Perform procedures as required: suture removal, wart and mole removal, pap smears, colposcopies, minor surgeries, administer EKGs, rhythm strips, injections, immunizations, vision and hearing tests, measurement of O2 saturations, venipuncture, and other specialty related procedures.

Complete FMLA paperwork.

Contact hospitals and outside sources regarding test results, X‑Ray results, ER reports; authorize prescriptions by phone; coordinate with nursing homes and patients to relay results and recommendations.

Pre‑certify hospital admissions and referrals.

Disinfect exam rooms, procedure rooms, and laboratory.

Escort patients to exam rooms and check vital signs as needed.

Record reason for visit, reconcile current medications with established medication profiles, verify allergies.

Instruct patients on how to prepare for examination.

Obtain necessary authorization prior to surgery.

Prepare exam rooms and procedure trays as necessary.

Schedule all surgeries and off‑site diagnostic tests.

Qualifications

Graduate from a recognized Medical Assistant program or a high school diploma with at least 1 year of recent Medical Assistant experience in physician practice within the last three years.

Medical Assistant certification required.

Excellent collaboration and communication skills and a positive attitude toward problem‑solving.
