Salary: $2,304.80 to $2,535.28 biweekly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. $71,917.28 annual salary offered to candidates holding Standard Certification as a 1 & 2 Family Dwelling Inspector, with potential additional incentive for holding extra standard certifications, dependent upon certifications held.
Work location: Government Center/Viera/Travels Countywide. Work schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Summary: Performs skilled technical work conducting inspections of building construction, erection, repair, additions, or alterations that require permitting as provided by state law or municipal or county ordinance for compliance with the Florida Building Code and other laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to building construction.
Responsibilities
Inspect buildings and ensure compliance with the Florida Building Code and applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
Three (3) years of experience as a Building Inspector
Must possess a valid active State of Florida Standard Certification as a 1 & 2 Family Dwelling Inspector
Must possess one (1) additional valid active State of Florida Standard Certification as a Building, Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing Inspector, issued by the Florida Building Code Administrators and Inspectors Board (FBCAIB) in accordance with Florida Statute Chapter 468
Maintain said certifications in an active status during the term of employment
Special Requirements
Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment
Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights above ten (10) feet
Must be capable at all times of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed
