Description
The Test Development Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive test strategies to maximize coverage and ensure product quality. This role involves developing simulators and automated test scripts, as well as designing advanced testing systems for both hardware and software components. The engineer will collaborate closely with product development and operations teams to refine testing approaches and support pilot production runs.

Essential Job Functions

Develop Test Strategies to Maximize Test Coverage - This is a foundational step where the overall approach to testing new products is formulated.

Develop Simulators or Digital Twins to Enable Automated Design Verification of Embedded Systems - With strategies in place, develop tools that allow for early and thorough testing of designs.

Develop Automated Test Scripts and Software Applications used by the Product Development Staff to Test New Product Interfaces, Connectivity and Benchmark Performance of New Products - Utilize simulators and digital twins to develop detailed test scripts and software that will be used throughout the product development.

Execute Detailed Design of Automated Factory Test Solutions including hardware & software elements to meet product, quality, cost, and test requirements outlined in Production Test Plans - Transition from product design verification to preparing for production by designing automated test solutions that integrate both hardware and software elements.

Develop and Deploy Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Process Capability metrics into Factory Test Systems - With test solutions in place, enhance them by integrating process control metrics to ensure quality and consistency in manufacturing.

Debug Factory Test System Issues using Design of Experiments and Failure Analysis methodologies - As factory test systems are deployed, continuously improve these systems by troubleshooting and resolving issues using structured methodologies.

Work closely with Product Development and Operations Resources to Execute Pilot Production and Manufacturing Process Qualification - Before full-scale production, conduct pilot production runs to qualify the manufacturing processes and ensure the product meets all specifications.

Publish Test Procedures, Test Specifications, and Acceptance Criteria for New Products - Finalize and document all test procedures, specifications, and criteria that will govern production and quality assurance.

Support Operations Group as needed to help ensure on-time delivery of product - Offer ongoing support to operations to address any last-minute challenges to meet delivery timelines.

Requirements
Education
Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering

Technical Experience & Skills

3+ years of related factory integration experience.

2+ years’ experience in embedded software development and writing C code for 32-bit microcontroller platforms including STM, NXP, Nordic Semiconductor ARM cores including Cortex-A and Cortex-M variants.

Ability to read schematics to troubleshoot, debug and bring up new hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers and in‑circuit emulators.

Proficiency in C Programming

Working knowledge of Python, Tcl, and VBScript.

Working knowledge of C#.
