Job Summary
The Designer II (DT II) is the second level in the Designer career track. The track provides designs for utility systems including overhead and underground circuits for joint use, lighting, commercial, industrial and residential development, gas and generation systems. It also handles field data collection and may assist with storm restoration. The role involves handling simple design projects and supporting others on more complex projects, with some independence. DT II interacts with clients/customers and construction crews to progress projects.

Primarily office work with significant field work exposure to inclement weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Perform field data collection and project‑specific inspections accurately and efficiently.

Produce high‑quality computer‑aided design drawings and a list of materials needed for simple projects, supporting more complex tasks under supervision.

Ensure all necessary communications are documented on projects as required by training.

Generate permitting and other supporting documents as needed.

Provide guidance and training to other designers for simple tasks as requested.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, with at least two years relevant work experience, or an associate’s degree if less than one year relevant work experience.

Valid driver’s license required.
