Position Summary
Cat Scan Technologist to perform radiographic exams for patients of all age groups.
Job Duties & Essential Functions
Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of all CAT scan and General X-Ray imaging exams.
Performs diagnostic CAT scans and General X-Ray for subsequent evaluation and treatment by referring physicians.
Assists physician/radiologist in procedures as necessary.
Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
Prepares or enters written documentation as required by the department such as informed patient consents, patient chart documentation and other related duties.
Performs duties adhering to patient safety and radiation safety standards of practice.
Maintains and exhibits behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust.
Demonstrates proficiency in performance of all duties.
Demonstrates ability to recognize and allay patients’ fears and apprehensions about exams.
Maintains established department policies, procedures, protocols, programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Assists with other projects as required.
Attends and works at hospital functions as required.
Possesses the competency and proficiency to select appropriate scan sequences for filming of exams using specialized computerized equipment and processing.
Observes sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary.
Assesses the physical need of the adult and geriatric patient.
Maintains all necessary records of image slice, injections, stocking supplies, handling of equipment, etc.
Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
Cooperates with all personnel in the proper conduct of the department; demonstrates professionalism at all times.
Maintains ethical relationships.
Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
Participates in in-service programs.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Graduate of accredited program in Radiologic Technology – New York State approved two‑year programs.
New York State Department of Health Diagnostic Radiographic Technologist license.
ARRT (R) (CT).
Specialized in CT Technology and cross‑section anatomy.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Up to one (1) year of Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.
Physical Demands
Heavy lifting and bending of at least 100 lbs.
Long periods of standing.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Able to see and read well.
Able to hear and listen to instructions.
Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms or mechanical substitutes to operate a stretcher, move patients, transfer a patient and other hospital equipment.
Pay Range
$52,918 - $56,265 per hour.
Additional Requirements
Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Eastern Long Island’s Employee Health Services.
Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
