Overview

Job Title: Sample Control Technician I. Eurofins Environment Testing is seeking a technician to log and track the receipt and shipment of all samples. Responsible for timely documentation of sample log in, labeling and routing. Determines the priority level and appropriate testing procedures of samples according to the Chain of Custody documentation, and labels and stores samples in accordance with documented procedures. May assist in preparing bottle kits for delivery to clients and proper disposal of samples and waste in accordance with all applicable procedures. May be responsible for pick-up and delivery of samples.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receives and unloads incoming samples in accordance with DOT regulations.
Verifies receipts against Chain of Custody (COC).
Notes any discrepancies, clarifies and seeks resolution.
Maintains timely communication and response to PM inquiries.
Logs samples into the LIMS to assign job/sample number for tracking.
Distributes paperwork to Project Managers.
Labels samples accordingly with job/sample numbers for identification.
Delivers samples to the appropriate analysis lab or walk-in.
Forwards ICO samples to other laboratories as required, in accordance with DOT regulations.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Prepares bottle kits for shipping to clients for sample collection and return, in accordance with EPA and DOT requirements.
Disposes of spent samples, waste and other potentially hazardous materials in accordance with established procedures.
Monitors freezers and cooler temperatures daily to confirm readings are within SOP guidelines.
Cleans and organizes work area daily to ensure smooth flow of operations.
Stocks inventory daily and assists with inventory of supplies to ensure adequate for operation.
Performs splits and composites as required.
Performs courier duties as required, while maintaining certification and compliance with company driver policies.
Maintains and promotes safety and conducts all operation in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
May act as back up for Supervisor.
Ancillary Duties

Assists in maintenance of walk-in coolers and freezers to ensure proper storage location of samples.
Maintains company vehicles as needed to ensure availability for sample pick-up and delivery.
Ships back empty coolers to clients and other network labs as required.
Other duties as needed
Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Laboratory experience helpful
Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines)
Department of Transportation (DOT) certificate may be required within 90 days of hire.
Valid state issued drivers license to operate company vehicles
Successfully pass a motor vehicle background check, as required for company driver certification
Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) may be required within 90 days of hire.
TSA clearance may be required within 90 days of hire
Minimum Skills and Abilities
To successfully communicate in both verbal and written format
General computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
General knowledge of lab practices
General knowledge of math and English
To work well within a team environment
Good time management and organization
Ability to drive for long periods, up to 8 hours per day.
Schedule and Compensation

Position is full-time, non-exempt from overtime pay with flexibility for overtime and weekend coverage as needed. The candidate must be able to work
Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30am - 6:00pm
The compensation for this position is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
