Summary
Coordinates and supervises activities relating to the maintenance and repair of physical systems of buildings and equipment. Coordinates and supervises preventative maintenance of guest rooms and public areas. Supervises the work of others and performs needed work him/herself as necessary.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Responsible for assigning work and supervising all of the maintenance and repair work of the following employees in the Engineering Department:
General Maintenance
HVAC/Refrigeration
Electrician,
Plumber/Kitchen Mechanic
Carpenter
Painter
Engineering Administrative Assistant
Confer with vendors to obtain product and service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule
Process purchase requests for items needed by the Engineering Department
Supervise work of outside contractors as needed and make sure work was properly performed and the job site left clean
Supervise Mechanical, Public Area, and Guest Room preventative maintenance per standards and schedules
Attend scheduled meetings as required
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist operations to perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Qualifications
Education / Experience

General knowledge of skilled trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry. Advanced knowledge or certification in one of these areas required
Minimum of 5 years maintenance experience and supervisory experience of a building/hotel maintenance operation required
College degree or Technical school graduate preferred

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands to perform mechanical maintenance tasks, handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; talk and hear.
The employee is frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms and to climb on scaffolds and ladders
The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs., and to move objects up to 100 lbs.
Communication
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings and mechanical maintenance instructions
Computer skills
Good computer skills preferred
Ability to use Excel, EMS, PMS & guest response software
Work Environment

The work environment is varied. Work is performed both inside and outside. Outside can be in inclement weather including rain and warm temperatures. Work is also performed in both guest contact and non guest contact areas.
Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except in mechanical areas and when using certain equipment. Work involves using various tools, including tools that may be considered dangerous. Protective equipment and clothing will be required. Proper safety precautions specified by the tool manufacturer and/or OSHA must be followed.
Work may involve high voltage equipment and electric panels. Proper safety equipment includes but is not limited to the use of gloves that must be worn, at times for an extended period. All applicable OSHA and national and local electrical codes must be adhered to.
