Job Description
Are you an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Designer who enjoys bringing complex industrial projects to life? Do you thrive when collaborating with engineers, project managers, and operations teams to create practical, high‑quality electrical and instrumentation designs? This is an opportunity to join our Project Services team as an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Designer II, where you’ll play a key role supporting capital and sustaining projects across multiple chemical manufacturing facilities.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the design, development and improvement of electrical and instrumentation documentation that supports safe, reliable and efficient plant operations.
What You’ll Do
Develop and revise electrical and instrumentation design packages that support capital and maintenance projects.
Prepare and update electrical and instrumentation documentation, including: one‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, panel layouts, cable and conduit schedules, junction box details and installation drawings.
Coordinate with electrical engineers, instrumentation specialists and other design disciplines to ensure accurate and constructible project documentation.
Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and collaborate with project teams to resolve technical challenges.
Review vendor and third‑party engineering deliverables for alignment with project scope, company standards and constructability requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation by incorporating field redlines and updating as‑built drawings.
Support field verification activities by visiting plant sites to gather information, validate design assumptions and assist during construction or commissioning.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Drafting & Design, or a related field (preferred).
6+ years of industrial electrical and instrumentation design experience in environments such as chemical, refinery, fertilizer or similar industrial facilities.
Strong experience developing electrical and instrumentation documentation, including one‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, cable schedules and panel layouts.
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D modeling experience preferred).
Ability to interpret P&IDs, vendor drawings and technical documentation.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
A collaborative, detail‑oriented mindset with strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in brownfield operating facilities.
Familiarity with tools such as Navisworks, Bluebeam or SAP.
Exposure to control systems or automation platforms such as Siemens PCS‑7.
Field experience supporting construction, commissioning or as‑built documentation.
