
Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic II/III

The main responsibility of this employee is to provide repairs and basic maintenance of a variety of vehicles and equipment and assist our in‑house lead mechanic. Key Responsibilities
Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles and completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune‑ups, oil changes, and replacing filters.
Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, and repairing mechanical and electrical system malfunctions; replacing parts and components.
Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems.
Comply with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
Contain costs by using warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt of orders.
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications, and possibly attending classes.
Requirements
Clean driving record with ability to drive a variety of vehicles, including those with a standard transmission.
Possess the tools necessary to perform the tasks.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds, crawl in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform repeated bending and lifting.
Be able to set priorities.
Be able to work independently.
Show a desire to learn a variety of mechanic skills, theories, and operational functions on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
