Location: Augusta University
Regular, Full‑Time, Faculty Member (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor – not tenure track)
Job Summary
The Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine is seeking a faculty member to deliver effective inpatient medical care, supervise students, teach clinical disciplines, and develop best‑practice guidelines. The role offers extensive collaboration across disciplines and supports research initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes, safety, and efficiency in acute care.
Responsibilities
Provide effective medical care in an inpatient environment
Prescribe medications and instruct patient use of non‑pharmaceutical aids
Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
Apply accreditation and certification requirements
Utilize community medical diagnostic and patient care services within area of expertise
Apply current principles, methods, and procedures for medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment
Maintain effective verbal and written communication skills
Work independently and as part of a team
Required Qualifications
MD, DO, or equivalent degree; board‑certified or eligible in trained specialty; state of Georgia medical license, federal DEA, ALS and BLS certification required.
Assistant Professor – Early‑career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training
Associate Professor – Mid‑level faculty with at least five years at Assistant Professor rank or comparable experience
Professor – Senior‑level faculty with at least five years at Associate Professor rank or comparable experience
Consistent with SACSCOC accreditation requirements
Evidence of teaching ability
Evidence of scholarly activity
Successful experience (waived for entry‑level applicants meeting all other requirements)
Desirable personal qualities assessed via interview, biographical data, and recommendations
Shift / Salary / Benefits
Full‑time (1.0 FTE), year‑round, fiscal‑year based. Salary commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to fund availability, with rank‑specific ranges for each level.
Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Eligible full‑time employees may qualify for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
