Job Description Insurance Defense Attorney Insurance Defense AttorneyPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join our litigation team. The successful candidate will defend insurance carriers and their insureds in civil mattersparticularly motor vehicle accident casesmanage a high-volume docket, develop litigation strategy, and work closely with claims adjusters and experts to achieve favorable outcomes while protecting carrier interests and minimizing exposure.Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent insurance carriers and insureds in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution forums.Manage a diverse caseload of civil litigation matters with an emphasis on motor vehicle accidents and related personal injury claims.Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents.Perform legal research and prepare clear, persuasive memoranda and briefs.Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts; prepare witnesses for testimony.Collaborate with claims professionals, retained experts, and opposing counsel to investigate facts, evaluate liability, and develop defense
settlements and structure resolutions that align with client objectives and reserve guidelines.Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, jury instructions, and trial exhibits; try cases when necessary.Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and litigation timelines, ensuring compliance with court rules and firm policies.Provide timely client communications, status updates, and strategic recommendations to carrier clients and claims teams.QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the state bar.3+ years of civil litigation experience, with a strong preference for experience in insurance defense and motor vehicle accident cases.Demonstrated litigation skills including drafting pleadings, conducting depositions, motion practice, and trial experience.Solid understanding of insurance law, coverage issues, bad faith principles, and applicable court rules and procedures.Excellent legal research, written advocacy, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.Proven ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team.Experience working with claims adjusters, retained experts, and outside vendors to develop factual and expert support for defenses.Reliable timekeeping and billing practices and commitment to client service and ethical practice.Willingness to travel to courts, client sites, and depositions as required. - For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
