
Juvenile Deputy Clerk

Job Overview
The Union County Probate and Juvenile Judge is hiring a Deputy Clerk to join the Juvenile Court team. Under the direction of the Chief Deputy Clerk, the Deputy Clerk performs clerical duties in the Juvenile Court, prepares docket or calendar of cases, examines legal documents for adherence to procedures, prepares case folders and files, routes documents, and coordinates schedules between Probate Court staff and other agencies (judges, magistrates, attorneys, sheriff's office, child support agency, etc.).
Responsibilities
Coordinate hearing schedules between magistrates, judges, attorneys, child support agency, and sheriff's office; perform case management (schedule hearings, set up file, prepare hearing paperwork, send out summons to parties, calculate court costs, etc.); update and enter case information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; respond to routine inquiries from the public and officials; perform routine clerical tasks (time stamping filings, retrieve/send faxes, make copies, etc.); answer and direct incoming phone calls.
Bailiff court hearings; balance cash drawer; prepare bank deposits.

Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Attend staff meetings as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) year of experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Inherently Hazardous or Physically Demanding Working Conditions
The employee is exposed to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.), possible injury due to unclean or unsanitary conditions, contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons, hazardous driving conditions, and irregular hours. In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary to light work.
