Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for safely operating band saws and other cutting equipment to precisely cut metal bars and tubes according to customer specifications. Works with various alloys including nickel, titanium, steel, aluminum, bronze, and others, ensuring accurate cutting to weight or length requirements.
Responsibilities
Operate multiple band saws simultaneously to cut metal bars and tubes.
Utilize overhead and jib cranes to handle materials and calculate load weights.
Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, pi-tapes, and calipers to verify dimensions.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards at all times.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow work orders and job specifications to meet customer requirements.
Perform routine maintenance on saws and equipment as needed.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize production efficiency.
Required Skills
Minimum of a few years' experience operating large band saws.
Proficiency in cutting various materials including nickel and steel.
Strong numerical skills and ability to read and interpret gauges.
Fast-paced work ethic with the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Ability to make sound decisions independently.
Education
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience
Previous experience in metal cutting operations preferred.
Work Conditions
Fast-paced industrial setting with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
Physical requirements include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and bending/stooping.
May require occasional overtime and weekend work depending on production demands.
