Facility Maintenance Worker II

Job Summary
Thomson‑Hood Veterans Center, a 285‑bed long‑term care facility, seeks an energetic Maintenance Worker II to support the upkeep of buildings and facilities. The position offers Pay Grade 10, salary $15.13 – $18.79 per hour, plus a $3.66 hourly locality premium. It is a full‑time, 18A position with eligibility for overtime pay.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and perform the work of employees and assist the supervisor in maintaining buildings.
Operate electrical systems, plumbing systems, sewer and associated equipment.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education: None required.
Experience: One year of building or grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance. Formal training in a related field substitutes for experience one year for one year.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Working Conditions
Incumbents may be exposed to extreme temperatures and must follow safety procedures, including the use of eye and ear protection when operating mechanical equipment.
Probationary Period
The position has an initial and promotional probationary period of six months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
