1st Shift Maintenance Technician

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for the 1st shift to join our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment used in the production of industrial and specialty chemicals, as well as pool and spa chemicals. This position involves routine operational and preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the safe performance of all repairs, maintenance, and project activities.
Responsibilities

Repair gears, mixers, valves, pumps, motors, scrubbers, hydraulics, and drive shafts.
Perform basic facilities work as needed.
Maintain and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
Conduct operational maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks regularly.
Ensure safe performance of repairs, maintenance, and project activities.
Work independently and collaborate with team members, management, engineering, and operations.
Set up and operate all necessary equipment for assigned tasks.
Install and maintain motor control systems for fans, pumps, compressors, etc.
Maintain logs and records of system operations.
Be on-call 24/7 for emergency maintenance needs and work overtime as required.
Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals, layouts, and electrical and pneumatic schematics.
Assist and coordinate with outside contractors as necessary.
Perform groundskeeping duties when required.
Plan work orders, identify and order parts/supplies, and document work order completion.
Assist internal customers by responding to high-priority unplanned events.
Work as part of the Maintenance Team to provide machine support and assist with projects.
Perform equipment start-ups, qualifications, disassembly, or relocation.
Assist in training and cross-training activities within the maintenance department.
Program and set up equipment controls.
Measure parts and verify dimensions using precise measuring tools.
Diagnose malfunctioning systems using test equipment and hand tools.
Advise management on safety hazards related to equipment operation.
Essential Skills

5+ years of industrial machine repair experience on gears, pumps, motors, hydraulics, etc.
Mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics expertise.
Ability to get fitted and wear a respirator when needed.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Experience with programming and set-up of equipment controls.
Strong diagnostic skills using test equipment and hand tools.
Work Environment

The work environment consists of three plants within walking distance of each other. The facilities are clean but a bit older, with large vats and containers housing liquids for pool supplies, cleaning solutions, and more. The workspace requires adherence to safety standards, including wearing a respirator when necessary. Be prepared to work in confined spaces and at heights.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62,400 - $72,800 per year. They are an ESOP company which means you are part owner and will get profit sharing and bonuses. They offer medical, dental and vision benefits. PTO standard is 2 weeks but it is negotiable.

This is a Permanent position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. This is a fully onsite position in Grand Rapids, MI.
