Position Overview
You will be a
Principal IT Asset Management Analyst
focusing on
Software Asset Management
based out of
Tampa, Florida . Due to the classified nature of the work, telecommute is not an option.
Responsibilities
Create, maintain, and amend IT software asset entries and corresponding contract records within the designated enterprise repository, ensuring data integrity and compliance with corporate standards.
Update software license inventories, associated licensing contracts, and maintenance agreements, accurately capturing all relational dependencies and entitlement attributes.
Execute and track software related service requests—including new requests, modifications, upgrades, and renewals—through the approved workflow, maintaining timely closure and documentation.
Liaise directly with vendors to obtain a comprehensive understanding of licensing terms, pricing structures, and product offerings, translating that knowledge into actionable guidance for internal stakeholders.
Drive the team’s visibility into license utilization, forecasting, and compliance by collaborating across functional groups, delivering clear explanations of licensing agreements, and standardizing management processes and procedures.
Participate in the end‑to‑end software procurement process.
Basic Qualifications
Master's Degree with 3 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 9 years of IT experience is required.
US Citizenship
A current/active DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse program teams, ensuring objectives are met while proactively preventing any software license lapses.
Demonstrated experience managing software license inventories, performing entitlement to consumption reconciliations, and delivering compliance and audit reports in a mid to large‑scale enterprise environment.
Knowledge of enterprise grade SAM platforms (e.g., Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow)
Strong analytical skills using Excel, SQL, or comparable data analysis tools to generate actionable insights.
Demonstrated experience creating and managing tickets, documenting software license processes, and maintaining license inventory and compliance tracking in Jira, Confluence (or comparable platforms), supplemented by regular reporting and reconciliation using Excel.
Ability to partner with various teams to support contract, purchase order processing, and license renewal cycles while ensuring contractual compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge of Tier1 vendor licensing models, including Microsoft, Atlassian, Splunk, Teradici, Dell, Cisco, RedHat, GitLab, and VMware.
Experience working with Value‑Added Resellers (VARs) to acquire software and verify receipt of entitlements.
Proven ability to analyze usage data to support license reclamation and reallocation efforts, driving cost‑optimization and reducing software overspend.
Strong understanding of license types and counting methodologies (PVU, CAL, cloud, subscription, perpetual, user‑based, concurrent, etc.) and the ability to apply them accurately.
Skilled at creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Technique Tactics and Procedures (TTPs) for storing, updating, and reporting on IT software licenses.
Holds a Certified Software Asset Management (CSAM) credential or an equivalent industry‑recognized certification.
