A Day in the Life of an Analyst, Private Credit
The Analyst works under the direction and supervision of senior team members to analyze, evaluate and execute potential unitranche or mezzanine debt investments and corresponding equity co‑investment. The Analyst works closely with other investment team members in modeling and analyzing potential investment opportunities, performing due diligence, preparing investment committee memos and supporting deal origination, business development and marketing activities. Responsible for three primary functions: creating initial deal screen memos, modeling and analyzing new opportunities, and tracking deal flow in CRM and other jobs as requested.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assists in underwriting deals assigned by either a Managing Director or Director, utilizing established underwriting criteria, and subject to review and approval by senior team members.
Prepares financial analyses and due diligence review, in order to make recommendations regarding the pursuit of potential transactions that are consistent with investment strategies.
Prepares initial deal model and evaluation memo for senior management's review.
Models and analyzes potential investments using various valuation techniques including leveraged buyout modeling, three‑statement modeling, comparable transactions, etc.
Prepares and assesses comparable transactions data for proposed investments and incorporates findings in final underwriting.
Qualification Criteria
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics or related field.
Typically requires zero to three years of related experience.
Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities.
Ability to think creatively and articulate complex ideas simply and clearly.
Experience using and creating financial models.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products – particularly Excel.
