Sterling Search Partners is helping a Birmingham client with its search for a Senior Billing Clerk. The Senior Billing Clerk is responsible for overseeing billing operations, ensuring accurate invoicing, and supporting financial processes. This role serves as a key point of contact for billing issues, handles complex accounts, and may mentor junior billing staff.
Key Responsibilities

Generate and review invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with client contracts
Manage high-volume billing cycles and ensure timely delivery of invoices
Resolve billing discrepancies, client inquiries, and payment issues
Reconcile billing data with internal systems (CRM, payroll, or accounting platforms)
Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collections as needed
Collaborate with sales, operations, and finance teams to ensure correct billing terms
Maintain accurate records of billing transactions and documentation
Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors
Assist with audits and reporting requirements
Train and support junior billing clerks or administrative staff
Qualifications

3–7+ years of billing, invoicing, or accounts receivable experience
Strong understanding of billing systems and accounting principles
Experience with ERP or accounting software
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
