Position Description
A Pediatric Dental Hygienist works with pediatric patients, encourages oral hygiene, and teaches proper dental care to children. The Hygienist supervises her own patient therapy but communicates patient needs and appointments with the dentists, and coordinates duties and responsibilities with the dentists and other dental ancillary personnel.
Detailed Duties And Responsibilities
Screens for oral diseases and refer as appropriate
Schedule appointments
Educate proper tooth brushing and flossing
Apply varnish
Educate patient and or parent on oral hygiene
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols
Makes patient recall calls to fill hygiene schedule when necessary
Guides the monthly inventory process in respective clinic and assists in order placement for supplies and materials.
Collaborates with the medical department to provide dental screenings at medical well‑visits as needed.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Energetic, compassionate and confident with all ages
Proficient in Dentrix
Training And Experience
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent training and experience.
A two- or four-year degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
Florida Board of Dentistry license.
Special Requirements
Bilingual skills English/Spanish preferred.
