American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Metairie, Louisiana.
Assignment Overview
Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: May 19, 2026
Length: 13 weeks

Details
Hospital ICU setting with potential float coverage to other ICUs, ED, PACU, and MS/PCU units
Primary patient ratio is 1:2, which may flex to 1:3 depending on census
When floating to MS/PCU units, patient ratio is 1:4
Night shift schedule: 3x12‑hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
4 weekend shifts required per 4‑week schedule
No on‑call responsibilities
Epic EMR experience required
Equipment used includes Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA Pumps, Servo I Ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis Machines, Edwards Lifesciences Cardiac Monitors, Medtronic EVD Management Systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE Monitors, Hill‑Rom Beds, Pyxis Medication Stations, and Veratron Bladder Scanners
Requirements
Active LA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
Epic EMR experience required
Proficiency with advanced ICU equipment including ventilators and CRRT dialysis machines
Must know your N95 mask size prior to starting
A supervisor reference dated within the last 12 months is required for consideration
Copy of Driver's License required for consideration
Additional Information
Nurses are responsible for all lab draws, EKGs, and line starts
Must be prepared to care for isolation patients, including potential COVID‑19 cases
CPI certification can be obtained at the facility for $100 if not already held
RTO is limited to 5 days for the duration of the contract
RTO requests should be minimized during Mardi Gras (February 13–22)
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
Former permanent employees of any LCMC facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible for a travel assignment

Compensation & Benefits
Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
