Job Summary
As a Registered Nurse Freestanding ED, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn – whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.
Responsibilities
Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate patient needs, resolving them proactively.
Teach patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Teach patients/families/caregivers about non‑medicinal follow‑up measures, such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes. Prepare patients and families/caregivers for future self‑management.
Qualifications
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
Neonate Resuscitation must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
Registered Nurse (RN) status.
Associate Degree.
Full‑time night position.
At least 1 year of ED experience.
