Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant – Peds – Garden City. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; providing competent, safe, and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by patients undergoing hospitalization, procedures, or diagnostic tests.

Job Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas, escorting patients as needed.

Obtains vital signs, weights, and electrocardiograms (EKGs). Assists with blood collection phlebotomy and ensures charts with relevant lab work are available for physicians.

Assists physicians with procedures, including GI procedures and all medical exams.

Ensures exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient and prepared for the next patient. Performs light housekeeping duties, such as spills removal.

Assists patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.

Assures completion of patient charges per policy.

Clean and sterilizes designated equipment after use. Answers telephone in the treatment area and assists staff in scheduling treatments. Communicates with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.

Stocks exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.

Assists with training new Medical Assistants and may perform administrative responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or at least 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written), interpersonal and customer service skills.

Basic knowledge of computers.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic Life Support (BLS).

Medical Assistant Certification.

Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $61,692.75 - $61,692.75 annually. Actual salaries depend on various factors including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The range excludes bonuses, incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
