Position Overview
CLFC Healthcare & Communications is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care at a federal metropolitan detention center in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. You will deliver patient assessments, medication administration, wound care, chronic disease management support, and emergency nursing response for an incarcerated population under Bureau of Prisons healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct nursing assessments, triage sick call requests, and implement physician-ordered treatment plans
Administer medications including controlled substances with accurate documentation and count verification
Perform wound care, phlebotomy, IV therapy, and point-of-care testing
Monitor patients on chronic care protocols including insulin-dependent diabetes, anticoagulation therapy, and HIV/hepatitis treatment
Respond to medical emergencies and provide BLS/ACLS-level nursing care
Conduct intake health screenings and tuberculosis testing for newly admitted inmates
Coordinate care between physicians, mid-level providers, and specialty consultants
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in the BOP electronic health record
Participate in infection control, quality assurance, and accreditation compliance
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active, unrestricted RN license in Puerto Rico or any U.S. state
Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience
U.S. citizenship required
Ability to pass federal background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency
Correctional nursing or emergency department experience
BSN or higher preferred
CCHP (Certified Correctional Health Professional) certification
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $72,000 - $95,000 annually
