Float Pool Patient Care Tech/CNA – Responsibilities
This is a per diem opportunity with a flexible schedule. The candidate provides direct and indirect patient care in the medical‑surgical setting under the direct supervision of a registered nurse preceptor. The role requires communicating with the RN preceptor about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The candidate also participates in the department’s performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities and must be willing to float to all units.
Completes bedside shift report in the room at the beginning and end of each shift. Ensures patient is provided with the names and contact numbers for members of the care team on the communication board every shift.
Consistently completes hourly rounds: pain, potty, position, periphery – alerting the RN to issues with the IV pump. Performs rounds with purpose, proactively evaluating the environment to ensure it is patient friendly and safe. Updates communication board when rounding is complete.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering the needs specific to the standard of care for the patient’s age; pediatric, geriatric, and the general population.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

Qualifications
Current CNA license required
Current BLS certification required
Preference for one year experience in an acute care/behavioral health setting
