Role Description
We are seeking a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for a full-time hybrid role based in La Porte, IN, with flexibility for remote work. In this role, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based counseling services to individuals, families, and groups, including Trauma-Focused Equine-Assisted Therapy and other therapeutic modalities. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, maintaining client records, and collaborating with clients to support healing and personal growth. Additionally, you will participate in community outreach and contribute to program development aligned with Anam Cara’s mission to promote accessibility and mental wellness.

Qualifications

Active and unrestricted licensure in mental health counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related field (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, LMFT).

Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as EMDR, CBT, or trauma-focused interventions.

Experience or certification in Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (Natural Lifemanship, ARCH, or Eagala) is preferred.

Strong skills in conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and maintaining accurate documentation.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups.

Commitment to providing culturally responsive, inclusive, and trauma-informed care.

Ability to manage a hybrid work environment, including in-person sessions and remote administrative tasks.

CPR/First Aid certification and the ability to work in outdoor environments with equine therapy programs.

Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field, with a focus on clinical training.

Experience working with specialized populations, such as veterans, first responders, or youth, is a plus.
