The CNC Machinist II is a highly skilled, detail‑oriented technician responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC milling and turning equipment to support a high‑mix, low‑volume manufacturing environment. This role ensures efficient production through accurate machine setup, precise tooling adjustments, and thorough first‑article inspections.
Job Overview
The Machinist II troubleshoots setup and performance issues, collaborates closely with CNC programmers and operators to optimize quality and reduce downtime, and maintains meticulous records of tooling and setup parameters. Success in this position requires strong problem‑solving abilities, a deep understanding of machining principles and G‑code, proficiency with precision measurement tools and optical inspection systems, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Shifts : 1st – 6:30am to 3:00pm; 2nd – 2:30pm to 11:00pm.
Responsibilities
Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team setting and ability to solve problems.
Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes per production schedules and work orders with little or no supervision.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
Load and adjust tools, set tool offsets, and verify tool paths using simulation or dry runs.
Install and align fixtures, vices, and stock materials accurately.
Perform first‑article inspections and make necessary adjustments to achieve required tolerances.
Troubleshoot and resolve setup issues related to tooling, programming, or machine parameters.
Collaborate with CNC programmers and operators to improve setup times and part quality.
Maintain accurate records of setups, tooling requirements, and part specifications.
Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures, and health, safety, and environmental regulations, as required.
Understanding of G-code and ability to modify simple program operations such as speeds, feeds, and taper compensations.
Ability to use measuring equipment effectively, such as micrometers and calipers, SmartScope or similar optical inspection equipment.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in CNC machining for Mills and Lathes
3+ years of experience setting up muli-axis (including live tooling) CNC Mills, Lathes, or Grinding equipment
2+ years of experience working in high-mix, low-volume production environment
High School Diploma or equivalent
Read work orders to understand and meet customer specifications
Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances
Perform complex troubleshooting with little or no supervision
Must have an effective command of the English language, both written and verbal
Knowledge of proper safety procedures
Must have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position, which is $25.00-$35.00 per hour. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 5% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position is $54,600 to $76,400 for the 1st shift, and $57,800 to $79,700 for the second shift. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and, by nature, can vary based on company and individual performance, and are not a guarantee.
