
Water Permitting Specialist – Environmental Scientist/Geologist/Engineer/Planner

What You’ll Do
As an emerging Scientist, Geologist, Engineer or Planner, you’ll provide technical support on water permitting projects in Northern California. You will manage up to 50 permitting projects per year throughout planning, construction, and permit closeout phases, preparing permit applications, sampling plans, discharge summaries, soil and water management plans, and close‑out documents. You will also learn the permitting requirements of City and California State Water Board agencies, navigate complex program structures, and communicate across diverse stakeholders.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Planning, or a closely related field.
Professional experience in environmental consulting and/or regulatory agency work with direct client interaction.
Knowledge of permitting for groundwater, surface water and other media.
Ability to work independently with interdisciplinary project teams, including clients, construction professionals, engineers, planners, biologists and regulators.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, prioritization, and adaptability to project and schedule changes.
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

Estimated travel: 5‑10% within Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area for job walks and inspections.
Competitive salary range: $66,300 to $100,210, based on location, skills and experience.
