Senior Environmental Scientist / Geologist
Broadbent & Associates, Inc. of Reno, Nevada is looking to hire a full‑time, Senior Level Environmental Scientist/Geologist to oversee a wide variety of complex environmental projects in Nevada and California. A Day in the Life of a Senior Environmental Scientist / Geologist
As a Senior‑level professional, you are the engine of our business. Your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of the Division Manager or Principal Professional, you will:
Prepare and review work plans, technical documents, and reports for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
Prepare and review new client proposals for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
Develop the scope of environmental assessment and remediation projects from our diverse portfolio and manage them within budget
Conduct regular field visits to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed
Review and approve supplier work proposals and invoices
Evaluate/interpret data and prepare detailed reports
Assist with marketing and business development
Mentor junior staff to assist with their professional development
Your people skills are essential as you interact regularly with local and national clientele as well as regulatory agencies. Though you do spend a lot of time visiting job sites and interacting with people, you also make sure to keep up with all your administrative responsibilities. Ensuring that clients are happy as well as that all jobs are delivered on time, within the scope, and on budget, gives you a great sense of accomplishment!
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, engineering, or related field
Certified Environmental Manager (CEM) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification
Seven or more years of experience in geological assessments, water supply, water treatment, environmental assessments, contaminant investigation, contaminant remediation, stormwater management, wastewater treatment, permitting projects, or compliance projects in the public and private sectors
Consulting experience
Strong working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and experience interacting with governmental regulatory agencies
Demonstrated ability to properly manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring compliance with deliverable timelines
Ability to travel within the western regional US
Desired Qualities
Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of the consulting business
Strong commitment to safety and staff development
Possess ability to effectively manage personnel and administrative functions
Advanced technical capabilities associated with the specific field of expertise
Motivated self‑starter and ability to perform periodic field work
Strong problem solving, research, and communication skills
Ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with site operations
Willingness to conduct Business Development activities
Technical writing competency and computer literacy
In‑depth experience with service line specific cost projections, budget preparation and tracking
Ability to work individually and as a team member
Work Schedule and Location
This full‑time Senior project management position typically works Monday - Friday with some traveling, overnight and weekend work. May engage extended two‑ or three‑week projects regarding emergency response (voluntary).
