Day in the Life of a Staff Geologist / Staff Environmental Scientist
Under the supervision of a Senior Geologist, you provide support on a range of environmental projects including Emergency Response, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, soil and groundwater characterization, air sampling, remediation system operation and maintenance, system startups, shutdowns, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of equipment, lithologic logging, well construction monitoring, water and wastewater treatment facility monitoring, and water resources activities. You conduct field work to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are followed. Your people skills are essential as you interact regularly with local clientele and contractors. You also keep up on administrative responsibilities, provide accurate data to Senior Geologists / Scientists, and prepare daily reports, ensuring that clients are satisfied and jobs are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Qualifications for a Staff Geologist / Staff Environmental Scientist
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or Environmental Science
Zero to four years of applicable work experience (e.g. consulting, environmental)
Ability to work outdoors during summer months, traverse moderate terrain and lift up to 50 pounds
Technical writing competency and strong computer skills
Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
Self‑starter, quick learner and effective communication skills
Ability to travel
Ability to work individually and as part of a team
GIS experience a plus
