Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of the clinic supervisor and the general supervision of the clinic providers, the candidate performs patient care duties within California Business and Professions Code and Joint Commission regulations. Duties include front‑office management, appointment scheduling, patient check‑in, authorizations, accurate billing, payment processing, supply chain and forms management. Back‑office duties involve equipment management, environmental care, cleaning and disinfecting. The role requires knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, universal precautions, body mechanics and may include audiograms, ECGs, urine drug screens, venipuncture, TB skin testing, equipment calibration, vaccine administration and assistance with patient treatment. The candidate uses electronic medical record software for charting, screening, and translation services (bilingual English/Spanish), and may float to other departments.

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

BART or BLS at the time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months.

Minimum two (2) years of experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory practice.

Experience in a mental health and/or addiction treatment setting.

Knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.

Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

Professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

Strong computer literacy.

Strong initiative, prioritization, and teamwork skills.

Experience in a fast‑paced, multi‑specialty clinic.

Scheduling experience.

Proven knowledge of the patient flow process to efficiently monitor appointments and physicians.

Team‑oriented and flexible with varying demands.

Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) years of recent MA experience.

Medication prior authorization experience.

Experience assisting with procedures.

Experience with EPIC and Cadence modules.

Experience managing EPIC InBasket.

Experience working with senior populations.

Experience working with vulnerable patient populations.

Special Conditions

Must be available for various hours and locations based on business needs.

Employment subject to criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $52,847 – $65,772 (prorated if appointment less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $25.31 – $31.50

The factors determining appropriate compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
