NaphCare is hiring a Lab Tech Phlebotomist to join the team of medical professionals at Bullock Correctional Facility in Union Springs, Alabama.

As a Lab Tech Phlebotomist, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the patients. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex needs.

Responsibilities
The Lab Tech Phlebotomist collects blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate patient identification, sample labeling, and proper handling to maintain specimen integrity. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

Performing venipuncture and finger sticks on patients, adhering to safety protocols.

Labeling specimens accurately, processing them for testing, and operating centrifuges.

Verifying patient identity, explaining procedures to reduce anxiety, and ensuring patient comfort.

Cleansing and sterilizing equipment, restocking supplies, and managing hazardous waste according to OSHA/CLIA standards.

Entering patient information and test orders into databases and requisitions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Completion of a phlebotomy technician training program.

Proficiency in blood collection techniques, strong communication, and attention to detail.

Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).

Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.

Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and adhere to all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.

Working Conditions
Must have the physical and mental capacity to work in an environment that may be less than pristine, as well as manage and maintain physical and mental health when encountering stressful situations.
