About the Role
This hybrid role is responsible for preparing high-quality histologic slides for both Mohs micrographic surgery and routine dermatopathology cases. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains exceptional attention to detail, and can seamlessly transition between surgical and lab workflows.
Responsibilities
Mohs Surgery (AM)
Prepare and process Mohs specimens using cryostat sectioning
Embed, cut, and stain frozen sections
Maintain proper tissue orientation and mapping accuracy
Ensure rapid turnaround times for surgical stages
Communicate effectively with Mohs surgeon and surgical team
Maintain and troubleshoot cryostat and staining equipment
Dermatopathology Lab (PM)
Accession, process, embed, and section specimens
Perform microtomy and routine staining (H&E; special stains as needed)
Ensure high-quality slide production with minimal artifact
Maintain organization and workflow efficiency within the lab
Assist with case prioritization and turnaround time management
Qualifications Required
Completion of an accredited Histotechnology program or equivalent experience
Cryostat sectioning (Mohs preferred)
Microtomy and embedding
Strong understanding of histology techniques and tissue handling
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred
HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification
Prior experience in a Mohs lab and/or dermatopathology lab
Familiarity with CLIA/CAP lab standards
Skills & Competencies

Ensure 100% accuracy in specimen labeling and handling
Support smooth daily workflow between Mohs and lab operations

Adhere to all CLIA, CAP, and OSHA regulations
Maintain strict HIPAA compliance
Follow all internal lab protocols and quality control procedures
